Enactus

Enactus SGGSCC was established in 2012 and has been working ever since to improve the world through entrepreneurial action. It is part of a global network dedicated to shaping a better world by inspiring positive, sustainable impact.

With a team of over 90+ members, the society has improved countless lives through sustainable projects. By addressing social and environmental issues, Enactus SGGSCC continues its mission to make the world a better place.

Two of their primary projects are Project Nivaran and Project Neersa.

Project Nivaran, an initiative by Enactus SGGSCC, tackles the invasive spread of water hyacinth by converting it into valuable by-products like handicrafts, biofuel, fabric, and materials for mushroom cultivation. By transforming this abundant plant into resources, Nivaran not only addresses environmental concerns but also empowers local communities through sustainable livelihood opportunities. Current collaborations, such as those with SwachhataPukare and Growdiesel, enhance the project’s impact by supporting the production of biofuel, sustainable textiles, and more, driving meaningful change in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Project Neersa focuses on enhancing sewage treatment and restoring water bodies through an innovative tri-segmented model. This project involves collaborations with organizations like the Delhi Jal Board, Growdiesel, etc.., which aims to convert sewage sludge into three valuable by- products: biogas, fertilizers, and construction bricks. Additionally, Neersa is developing techniques tailored for wastewater treatment in rural areas.

This project supports 11 out of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), positively impacting over 22,441 lives. The venture has already seen considerable financial success and plans to expand to 12 new territories, aiming to create 32 new entrepreneurs within the next 24 months.

Enactus SGGSCC has won several awards and achievements for its projects. The club won the Enactus National Competition 2022, Enactus Race to Rethink Plastic 2022, and was a top 16 finalist in the Enactus World Cup. Additionally, Enactus SGGSCC won the Enactus 77 Second Film Festival. The club has also achieved several business plan competition awards, including 2nd position at Model Shark Tank, 2nd position at C.O.D.E, first position at a business plan competition by Enactus Shivaji, and second position at a business plan competition by St. Stephens College.
