Teaching & Assessment

One of the principal objectives of the course is to make students acquainted with Punjabi language, literature & culture and making them eligible for pursuing higher studies and advanced research in the discipline. Students develop strong writing skills and the intensive study of various papers open multiple career options. The faculty at Punjabi Department has expertise in the areas of medieval & modern Punjabi literature, Media, Translation and linguistics. Faculty members are active in the field of research and are regular participants in national/international conferences and symposia. They contribute to national and international journals and reputed magazines. Department of Punjabi conducts remedial classes to help out students who are unable to keep in pace with the syllabus in the class. Besides giving assignment and conducting an internal mid semester examination, students are motivated to participate in the syllabus-based activities conducted by the faculty like group discussion, writing write ups, quiz competition and essay writing etc. Thus, both formal and informal evaluation of students encourages students to enhance their knowledge of various papers taught during the course of three years. Various events like Seminar, Special Lectures (by prominent writers), Workshops (to enhance effective reading, academic writing and critical thinking), Interactive Discussions, are a continuous feature of the department.

Feedback through assessment is an essential part of the teaching and learning experience at SGGSCC. It is done thoroughly and carefully to help students achieve their full potential in the subjects being taught. Internal Mid- Semester Examinations along with Assignments, Group Discussions, Presentations are done to assess the students on various aspects of learning.
