Teaching & Assessment

The teaching of the program focuses on comprehending economic theory and developing analytical and advanced thought in the discipline. Emphasis is placed on equipping students with the skills necessary to construct paradigms for modelling, interpret the behaviour and interactions of households, firms, and government institutions, and comprehend dynamic socio-economic problems. The goal is to enable students to contribute to the contemporary world of economics, management, and business, as well as to equip them with the essential knowledge and skills for pursuing advanced studies and research in the field. In addition to academics, a sense of social responsibility is instilled through classroom interactions and the various college societies. In accordance with this emphasis, the classroom environment is democratic and respectful of divergent viewpoints. In addition to weekday classes, tutorials, and practical sessions, seminars, guest lectures and mentoring sessions are also regularly organised. Students have many opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom and complement their academic studies at SGGSCC. The teachers are always ready to mentor, guide and help the students. Special lectures (by academicians, policy makers, bureaucrats, industry experts), workshops (to enhance effective reading, academic writing and critical thinking), interactive discussions, are a continuous feature of the department.

Feedback through assessment is an essential part of the teaching and learning experience at SGGSCC. It is done thoroughly and carefully to help students achieve their full potential in the subjects being taught. Under NEP, Assessment has two components, namely, Internal Assessment and Continuous Assessment. Internal Mid- Semester Examinations along with Assignments, Group Discussions, Presentations are done to assess the students on various aspects of learning.

Timetable

The College has a customized application called SmartProf which is used to disseminate information regarding personalised timetables, notices, maintaining everyday attendance and internal assessment records. The students can access the application through their college domain-based email ids. All the students are given registration details at the time of admission itself.
