Teaching & Assessment

This programme provides students with the skills needed to contribute to this exciting and rapidly evolving field. It is this combination of skills that enable our graduates to keep pace with this fast-moving subject and secure rewarding careers that can be pursued almost anywhere in the world. The programme helps the students in their ability to critically evaluate design paradigms, languages, algorithms, and techniques used to develop complex software systems. They also learn to evaluate and respond to opportunities for developing and exploiting new technologies.

The faculty at Computer Science Department has expertise in the areas of Software Engineering, Data Mining, Operating Systems, Computer System Architecture, Computer Networks and Databases. Along with academics, a sense of responsibility towards society is also inculcated through classroom interactions. In line with this emphasis, the classroom space is democratic and one in which differences in opinions are respected.

Students can expect 40 hours of teaching per week on Weekdays including tutorials. However, certain workshops and guest lectures are usually scheduled for Saturdays. Students have many opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom and complement their academic studies at SGGSCC. The teachers remain available to students at all times. They are always ready to mentor, guide and help the students. Various events like the Annual Day, Special Lectures (by industry experts),Workshops (to enhance effective reading, academic writing and critical thinking),Interactive Discussions, are a continuous feature of the department. Feedback through assessment is an essential part of the teaching and learning experience at SGGSCC. It is done thoroughly and carefully to help students achieve their full potential in the subjects being taught. Internal Mid- Semester Examinations along with Assignments, Group Discussions, Presentations are done to assess the students on various aspects of learning.
